Las Lajas

A young French priest, newly ordained and quietly unsure of his calling, is sent from Paris to the edge of the world — the Sanctuary of Las Lajas, a basilica built on a bridge over a Colombian gorge where, they say, the Virgin's image appeared on living rock.

There, Fr. Luc Maréchal befriends Mateo, the sanctuary's caretaker, whose family has served the gorge for a thousand years and who carries a half-remembered secret: that the ground was holy long before the miracle. Together they uncover a hidden chamber in the canyon wall — and a truth the centuries tried to forget.

But two outsiders want the secret for themselves: one to build over it, one to publish it. To protect the place, Luc must finally answer the question he has been fleeing since the day he put on the stole — and discover what he truly believes.
